About Us |
|
At Little River, we strive to create a warm and nurturing setting that your child will thrive in; socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Clear curriculum guidelines and carefully conceived activities are essential to successful early childhood education. However, when the light of discovery sparks, lesson plans must be flexible enough to encourage individual interests and creative expression. Accomplishing all of this within the spirit of joyful play is essential.
We draw our inspiration in part from the "Core Knowledge" philosophy (www.coreknowledge.org), developed by E.D. Hirsch, author of "The Schools We Need and Why We Don't Have Them." Hirsch's philosophy is derived from his research into why certain countries have better educational outcomes than others, and his extensive examination of peer-reviewed research on learning and cognition.
